Suitable light level for home colors

Suitable light level for home colors

For indoor plants is important not only constant watering, but also the presence of a sufficient amount of ultraviolet radiation. In summer, most light-loving colors are installed on window sills, verandas and balconies on the south side of the house, and in winter, the sun shines through the installation of additional artificial light sources.

How much light do plants need?

Substances that promote the growth of flowers are formed during the process of photosynthesis. Photosynthesis itself in certain plant species proceeds in different ways, so it can be understood that flowers consume different amounts of ultraviolet radiation.
Ornamental deciduous plants, as a rule, do not need as much light as their ornamental flowering cousins. If hot countries, deserts and mountain slopes are the native habitat for a flower, then for such representatives of flora one should find a place on the windowsill in a well-lit room. Other types that grow in tropical forests and are accustomed to penumbra or shade should find a place away from direct sunlight. Such flowers can get burned or die at all if this rule is neglected.
The following visual features can be bright signs of a lack of lighting:

  • flowers have withering leaves, and all the others have lost their initially rich color;
  • new buds bloom extremely rarely and fall off quickly;
  • the plant itself has a thin stem and weak leaves.

The best way to determine the level of lighting in a room is to use a luxmeter. But, if this equipment is not at hand, then you can focus on the above signs, which can be seen with the naked eye.

Suitable light sources

The most optimal artificial sources of ultraviolet, which are recommended for use in winter, are fluorescent fluorescent lamps. They provide not only the right amount of light, but they are also very economical, so your plants will still grow and you will not experience heart failure every time you receive receipts for payment of utility bills.
The experienced gardeners themselves recommend lamps to be placed not at an angle, but above the plants at a certain distance. If you set the light source to the side, the plants will turn to it and lose their original shape. On the other hand, if the lamp is placed at a small distance, then burns form on the leaves of flowers, which is also not good.
Determine the required distance to the pot with a flower can be in accordance with the lamp power. Sources with a capacity of 1000 W should be removed from the plant at 80-100 centimeters. Lamps with a capacity of 600 W can be placed at a distance of 50 centimeters, and less demanding of electricity devices are mounted at a distance of 30 centimeters.
If you follow these simple guidelines, then you will not be difficult to grow at home almost any type of exotic flowers that need the constant availability of sunlight.
